Dutch people are not planning to wear a ski helmet this year
Only 22 procent of Dutch people are planning to wear a ski helmet this winter holiday. This is shown by the annual winter survey by the ensurance company 'Europeesche Verzekringen'. This is a dangerously low rate, since the number of skiers and snowboarders with head injuries last season increased by 300 percent!
The European and Dutch ski association advises anyone to wear a ski helmet. They emphasize that not only children but also parents should wear a ski helmet.
The spokesman of the Dutch skivereniging made a clear comparison with driving a motorcycle: "Skiers and snowboarders usually go faster than a motor bike and a bike helmet has been the most normal thing in years. Compared to the road, which is reasonably well ordered, on the slopes everyone moves criss cross. There is no reason not to wear a ski helmet. "
